Maryland Emancipation Day at Button Farm Living History Center

Saturday, November 1, 2014 – noon to 4pm – RAIN or SHINE!

A new state constitution freed enslaved people living in Maryland on November 1, 1864.  Join Heritage Montgomery and our partners as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Maryland Emancipation Day.  Bring your family to enjoy special commemorative programs, food, games & crafts, and music at sites around Montgomery County!  Rain or Shine!  FREE!

Join us at Button Farm, a living history center showing daily plantation life of the enslaved in the 1800s for:  

·      Emancipation stories

·      Storytelling

·      Old Fashioned Games & Crafts

·      Butter churning

·      Music

·      Sack races, corn hole, and more! 

An African American genealogist will be on hand to offer tips and recommend resources for families researching their past.
